The Laval Rocket is once again having an excellent season, currently sitting atop the North Division.

Last night, Pascal Vincent's team was in Syracuse to face the Crunch in a very important game, given that the Crunch is just behind the Rocket in the division standings.

Fortunately, the game ended in a 2-1 overtime victory for Laval.

It was a close game, with Rocket goaltender Jacob Fowler playing solidly, allowing only one goal on 21 shots.

However, what stands out most about last night's victory for the Rocket is the overtime winner scored by Adam Engstrom.

The Swedish defenseman has been having a great run in Laval lately, and he continued his hot streak by scoring a superb goal in overtime.

Engstrom made a great individual effort to score his ninth goal of the season, giving him 24 points in 30 games in the American Hockey League this season.

By comparison, #42 had 27 points, including only five goals, in 66 games in his rookie season last year.

Engstrom is having a breakout season, which even earned him a call-up to the NHL earlier this season, where he played 11 games with the Canadiens.

It was an important stint for the 22-year-old defenseman, who gained a lot of experience, even though he didn't score any points.

In fact, since being sent back to Laval after his stint in Montreal, Engstrom has not lost momentum. On the contrary, he has continued to perform well and be a dominant force for Pascal Vincent.

He has recorded eight points, including four goals, in ten games, and more importantly, he is currently on a three-game scoring streak.

In short, Engstrom is once again having a great run in Laval, and it makes you wonder if the habs should call up the Swedish defenseman again.

Personally, I think Engstrom deserves a call-up, but right now is not the right time, given that the Habs are playing well and approaching the Olympic break.

However, when they return from the break, if the Canadiens are struggling, especially defensively, Engstrom could very well be called up.

In any case, what is certain is that the 22-year-old defenseman is doing everything he can to stand out and remain an excellent option for the habs in the short, medium, and long term.

He is on a very nice progression and development curve, which makes him very interesting both for the future in Montreal and for a possible trade.

All this remains to be seen.
