The men's Olympic hockey tournament will begin in about ten days. And for the first time in 12 years, NHL players will be able to represent their countries.

At the habs, we know that Nick Suzuki, Juraj Slafkovský, Oliver Kapanen, and Alexandre Texier will have the chance to participate in the tournament. The four guys have earned their spots… but what has attracted more attention are those who are not there.

And at the top of the list is Cole Caufield.

We know that Caufield, who is having a great season, already has 30 goals to his credit, which puts him in third place in the entire NHL. And seeing that Bill Guerin ignored him didn't sit well with everyone.

In an interview withTSN, even Nick Suzuki was quite blunt: he thinks it was definitely a mistake not to select Caufield.

We all know that the captain is going to sing his team's praises. That said, he spoke at length about everything that makes Caufield a “special” player… and even claimed that without #13, the habs wouldn't be having as much success this season.

Nothing less.

But the captain is trying to look on the bright side, telling himself that it might help Canada advance further in the tournament. And, by the same token, it could also help the habs between now and the end of the season, since Caufield will have time to rest.

It's quite rare to see Suzuki make such comments to the media, but you can sense that he wanted to defend his line mate.Let's see if time will prove him right.
