Last night, I had the chance to go to the Bell Centre for the Canadiens vs. Nordiques game. And let me tell you something: the atmosphere was insane. Like… INSANE.

The fans in attendance put on a great show to cheer on the home team.

The habs fans celebrated every goal with passion, and just thinking about it gives me chills. In the third period, when everyone started singing Neil Diamond's Sweet Caroline… Wow! :

But that's the Bell Centre for you.

The atmosphere in that arena—especially when the Habs win—is something else. It's special, and you won't find it anywhere else in the National Hockey League.

That's why the Bell Centre ranked first in a poll conducted by The Athletic (among journalists and fans) for atmosphere among all other arenas in the league. And that's not necessarily a surprise in itself.

In the list in question, the habs are ranked first… and the Leafs are at the very bottom of the list.

That's because Toronto is often dead. The fans in attendance are rarely very loud, as we've seen on several occasions in the past—even when the team was successful on the ice.

Even the club's captain, Auston Matthews, once mentioned after a game that he would have liked to see the fans be more active after an important moment or a goal.

You can't make this stuff up…

Oh well.

Too bad for Leafs fans, really. And good for Canadiens fans… who really know how to get the party started.

We love hockey in Montreal!
