In which uniform will Artemi Panarin finish the current season? That's the question on everyone's lips in the NHL right now.

What we do know is that the Rangers intend to trade him to a destination that will suit the Russian. We also know that the club would like to settle this before the Olympic break. And that's only a few days away.

What's interesting is that many clubs are in the running. We've heard (among other things) about his desire to join the Panthers and the Sharks' interest in him… but now we can add the Kraken to that list.

And according to Elliotte Friedman, who discussed this on his32 Thoughts podcast today, the Kraken would be willing to pay a high price to get him: they would be willing to give up Shane Wright to get Panarin.

He's the type of player the Kraken is looking for if they trade Wright.

However, Friedman doubts that this would happen because he doubts that Panarin would want to go to Seattle. This is despite the fact that the Kraken are currently third in the Pacific Division and have the salary flexibility to add Panarin (if the Rangers retain part of his salary).

That said, we can all agree that this trade would bestrange for the Kraken. The club has been inno man's land for the past few years, and even though Panarin would help the club this season, we're still talking about a 34-year-old player who doesn't have a contract beyond this season.

Wright isn't having a great season, but he showed promise last year and is only 22 years old. He could be part of the solution to get Seattle out of this no man's land.

And even if it's not for Panarin, it will be interesting to see if Wright's name comes up in connection with other big names who could eventually find themselves on the trade market. Because clearly, the Kraken are hunting for big fish and are willing to use Wright to get one.

Yes, we can (really) doubt that Wright is in Seattle to stay.
