Marc-André Fleury is retired.

He's been the talk of Montreal in recent days because of the Canadiens' problems in goal… and my colleague Maxime Truman took it a step further by saying that Fleury was the solution for the Habs.

The article sparked a reaction. And rightly so…

The Québécois maintains that he is too injured to return to play. He said in an interview (The Athletic) that his body was no longer up to it and that the option of returning to play was not on the table.

But…

But this morning, the Québécois was spotted in Minnesota. He jumped on the ice with Wild players to stretch his legs, and the club posted a few photos and a video on X for the occasion.

This doesn't mean that Fleury will return to play this season. It doesn't mean that he will come out of retirement to sign a contract with a team either.

But it does mean that he is (at least) fit enough to jump onto the ice and face some quality shots. We know how much he loves the game and how much fun he had playing… and I tend to believe that's still the case today.

I have a feeling we'll see him find a job with a National Hockey League club before long.

He loves hockey too much to stay away from it… and he has the attitude to help an NHL team in many ways. He would be perfect in a youth development role…

It would have been fun to see him make a comeback. Especially in Montreal…

It could happen because you never know what might surprise you, but I don't necessarily believe it will, even though he jumped on the ice to practice with the Wild this morning.

Overtime

– No surprise here.

– Notice to those interested.

– Oh.

– Wow!

– Oh well.
