Éric Raymond fired: Martin St-Louis didn’t want to answer the first question

Jeff Gorton spoke to the media a few minutes ago

Basically, the club president explained that he wanted a new voice for his goalies, whom he still believed in. He also said that he felt, in any case, that the end was near for Éric Raymond.

He also mentioned that Marco Marciano was in demand in the NHL and that the new goaltending coach had no problem with the interim tag that comes with his new position for the time being.

Next up was Martin St-Louis.

From the very first question, which obviously touched on the topic of the day, he immediately asked the reporters (more specifically Martin McGuire, who asked the question) if Jeff Gorton had already answered the media's questions about Éric Raymond.

You want me to give the same answer as Gorts? Ask me the question again. – Martin St-Louis

And after confirming that he needed to address the subject, he went into “response” mode with the journalists present at the day's practice.

I found that reaction arrogant. A man like him, who is a good leader, should not add fuel to the fire in such circumstances.

Even if it's undoubtedly not easy for him right now.We understand that.

The Canadiens coachis smart enough to understand that yes, the media will ask him about the fact that his assistant was fired the day after his team's victory.

Not asking MSL for his opinion would have been missing out on the story of the day.

I'm surprised to see such a reaction. You can tell he doesn't always like talking to the media… but on this one, he seemed as ready as when his captain was questioned about his level of French on TLMEP.

Overtime

It should be noted that the coach did confirm that Jakub Dobes will indeed be in goal for the Canadiens tomorrow against the Avalanche.

That makes sense.
