Dobes against the Nordiques, Dach’s uselessness, and Reinhart’s mansion

Tuesday afternoon: I record a podcast with my buddy JT in which we talk about the Canadiens' new #1 need: finding a good goalie who can steal points on his nights in the net.

Tuesday night: Jakub Dobes plays his best game of the season and helps the habs surprise the powerful Golden Knights at the Bell Centre. Talk about good timing…

If it hadn't been for Dobes yesterday, the Canadiens would never have been able to extend the game beyond 60 minutes. In short, without Dobes, the Habs would have left the arena last night with no points and would find themselves in a slightly more precarious position in the standings this morning. Thank you, Jakub!

Jakub Dobes has quietly racked up a 16-5-3 record since the start of the season. Sixteen wins is three more than Samuel Montembeault and Jacob Fowler combined, with less than 50% of the team's starts.

Even though his goals-against average (2.96) and save percentage (.890) aren't that impressive, Dobes is helping his team win. And at the end of the day, that's what you ask of your goaltender!

It's worth noting that Dobes hasn't lost a game in regulation (zero points) since December 9. That's seven weeks of consistently helping your team add points to the standings when you're sent into the fray!

First, we can understand why the man himself didn't like the question about his possible loan to the Rocket just a few weeks ago…

Second, there's no doubt about it: Jakub Dobes should get the start tomorrow against the Avalanche at the Nordiques. Samuel Montembeault hasn't found his footing yet and is racking up losses. Jakub Dobes, on the other hand, is winning games and is confident.

And the Avalanche will arrive in Montreal late tonight (the team is playing in Ottawa tonight).

Tomorrow night's game will be winnable, even though it will be against the best team in the NHL.

A coach's job is to put the lineup on the ice that gives him the best chance of winning. With Dobes, not Monty, those odds will be highest tomorrow. That's it!

Especially since Jakub Dobes, who allowed seven goals on 36 shots in November in Denver, will clearly want to get revenge and make everyone forget his worst game of the season.

In Jakub We Trust (for tomorrow, at least).

The only thing I didn't like was his little hand gesture to pump up the crowd after yesterday's game. Be (and stay) humble, Jakub.

Kirby Dach is going around in circles (literally and figuratively)
I was watching Kirby Dach yesterday during the game and I asked myself: Is Dach the worst player on the team right now?

Then a second question came to mind: what exactly is his purpose?

I'm willing to believe that he hasn't played for two months, but there are limits. Especially since he had an extra ten days to get back into rhythm before being reinserted into the lineup.

And he played his first two games alongside Nick Suzuki and Cole Caufield on the first line.

Yesterday, Dach finished the game with one shot, one hit, and a bunch of zeros.

Since returning to the game, Dach has been racking up zeros like Julie Masse before she met Corey Hart.

Kirby Dach in Montreal is a total zero. And I'll explain why in this new episode of Stanley25:

I invite you to watch the episode that Jean and I recorded yesterday; you'll hear a lot of things, hehe. You know, it was on Stanley25 that you first learned that Kirby Dach's attitude was sometimes poorly tolerated/received within the Canadiens organization.

Sam Reinhart has spoiled himself
Sam Reinhart hasn't been the same since he left Buffalo. He's gone from a 20-goal, 50-point guy to a 40-goal, 80-point guy.

And from a $5 million-a-year player to a $9 or $10 million player (with much lower taxes).

He recently even bought the house of Sergio Busquets, whose professional soccer career is now over. #InterMiami

We're talking about a real waterfront mansion with seven bedrooms, six full bathrooms, a media room, two kitchens, a swimming pool, and a triple garage.

Check out the photos; it's just too beautiful!
