Evander Kane's contract is expiring. The player earns an average of $5.125 million per year, and the Canucks, who are “prioritizing draft picks” for the future, want to trade him.

That makes sense.

Considering that he is capable of making a difference in the playoffs, he should be in demand.Even if he is a troublemaker, we can agree that putting up with him as a rental player is not so bad.

The Canucks, who are willing to retain salary to facilitate a trade, are talking to several teams. A draft pick or prospect would be expected in return for his services.

And according to David Pagnotta, several Eastern teams have already talked to the Canucks and Kane's agent, who has permission from the Canucks to talk to teams to see if a trade might be possible.

Obviously, you know as well as I do how tight the standings are in the East. So it's no surprise that several clubs are interested in him.

Are the clubs that have called in the Canadiens' division?

I wouldn't be surprised to learn that the Canadiens have made a call to the Canucks, but I don't expect Kane to end up with the Habs.

Even though the club could improve its top six.

I don't think Kane, who is 34 years old and has an attitude problem, fits in with what the habs are trying to build. But at the same time, he has a lot of talent.

In 51 games this season, he has nine goals and 15 assists. Can he finish the season strong elsewhere?

Overtime

– Oh yeah?

– Interesting.

– His season is over.

– Bryan Rust suspended for three games.

– Indeed.

– Still.
