It's no secret that the Habs are looking for reinforcements, ideally a top-six forward, before the trade deadline on March 6.
However, with the Olympic break freezing trades from February 4 to 22 and the standings still very tight, many expect a rather quiet trade market before the deadline.
However, according to Elliotte Friedman, there may well be more sellers than people are saying.
He believes that some teams that are in the playoff race but face the prospect of facing the Avalanche in the first round may decide to sell before the deadline, which could open up the trade market.
With that in mind, Marco D'Amico took a look at the teams he believes the Canadiens could realistically trade with.
Who can the Habs dance with on the trade market?
Today's @StarrandDamico episode looks at which teams would make for better trade partners for Montreal leading up to the NHL Trade Deadline.

He thinks four teams could be good targets for Kent Hughes: the Blues, the Blue Jackets, the Flames, and the Rangers.
On the St. Louis side, D'Amico names players whose names have been circulating heavily in rumors in recent weeks, such as Jordan Kyrou, Brayden Schenn, and Robert Thomas, who could help Montreal's offense.
Columbus has a surplus of wingers and several players who could be of interest to the habs, such as Kirill Marchenko and Dmitri Voronkov, who has 17 goals and 31 points in 51 games this season and was recently playing on the team's fourth line.
For Calgary, D'Amico believes Nazem Kadri is an interesting option not only as a center, but also for the physical element he can bring, especially in the playoffs.
However, acquiring Kadri would require retaining part of his salary.
Finally, on the Rangers side, D'Amico thinks Will Cuylle, a 23-year-old left wing who is 6'3″ and 212 lbs, could be a very good acquisition for the habs and that he could continue his development with a group of players his own age.
What's more, he's a player Kent Hughes knows very well.
What is clear is that the habs have the assets to make a move before the trade deadline. Not only does the team have almost all of its draft picks, but The Athletic has reviewed the assets that buying teams could offer in a trade, and the Canadiens are one of the teams with the most to offer in terms of quality prospects.

However, the organization will also have to be careful not to overpay for a player.
