On Saturday, the Rocket was in Calgary to battle the Wranglers, the Flames' training club.

David Reinbacher scored in the game… but the defenseman also had to leave the game early in the second period.

He was the victim of a heavy body check, and it was following this contact that he retreated to the dressing room. He never returned to the game:

Obviously, this isn't good news. But it's especially worrisome.

At least the Rocket announced today that Reinbacher will be evaluated on a daily basis. He's day-to-day, which means the defenseman won't be at his club's game tonight.

The important thing is to know that he seems to have avoided the worst.

We know the tape with the Austrian.

Reinbacher has been injured more often than not in recent years, and we all want to see him progress because he's one of the Montreal organization's good prospects.

But it's mostly because he's not lucky either.

The sequence in which he was hit like that on the weekend… it's not his fault. You can't say he's fragile after watching him get unscrewed by a player from the other team looking to make a big hit.

But still: this is another injury for him and it's starting to repeat itself quite a bit. It kind of reminds me of Kaiden Guhle in a way: Reinbacher is good and has great potential.

But he needs to be able to avoid the infirmary if he is to continue to progress… And since his arrival in North America, this has been a huge challenge for David Reinbacher.
