Great news for the Canadiens.
Alex Newhook, for the first time since he was injured early in the season, was spotted skating at the CN Complex in Brossard.
Our colleague Patrick Guillet took a video of the Canadiens forward, who was wearing his full gear for the occasion.

Newhook has occasionally attended Canadiens practices in recent months (on the players' bench), but there's nothing like seeing a player jump onto the ice for the first time.
That must be good for his morale.
Newhook, who had an excellent start to the season with the Canadiens (people were starting to talk about him blossoming), was injured on November 13 and underwent ankle surgery.
A return around the trade deadline is expected, according to the basic prognosis. Will it be sooner?
Don't get too excited about Newhook skating. It's obviously good news for the Canadiens player, but it's clear that he's not giving it his all either.
That's normal: he has to shake off the rust and potential pain. That doesn't happen overnight.
We're not sure if Patrik Laine is still injured or not, which makes Newhook the last major injury for the Canadiens. The other injured players are back in the lineup.
The Canadiens will practice at 10:30 this morning. Don't expect to see Newhook with the others, as he skated for about 30 minutes before leaving.
Overtime
– Oh, really?
David Pagnotta: You've got Dougie Hamilton…in New Jersey, and I don't think the Luke Hughes injury affects much of that, it might loosen the urgency…maybe they wait 'til July; I think he would like some finality now – The Sheet (1/23)

– Why get involved in the process, then?He knew what he was getting into.
Philip Rivers withdraws from the Bills head coaching search, noting that he enjoyed being in the process, but that it was bad timing for him and his family.https://t.co/PPWrPGgIid pic.twitter.com/CwvMmwfXab

– Wow.
Stuart Skinner has been a brick wall in the net for the Pens.
