21 shots on net. Four goals allowed.

I'm not saying it's ALL his fault… but last night in Boston, Samuel Montembeault didn't help the Canadiens. He didn't give his club a chance to win because he didn't make the big saves at the right times.

Ah, and the Québécois lost another lead.

It's simple: for some time now, Samuel Montembeault hasn't been able to keep a lead. Maxim Lapierre talked about it last night on BPM Sports: since the start of the season, Monty has had the lead 25 times… and lost it 21 times.

That's just not right. In fact… it shouldn't be normal.

Before yesterday's game, we all thought good old Monty was back. We thought we'd see the goalie who took the club to the playoffs and played such a big, big role in the Canadiens' 24-25 success.

But no. Instead, we're seeing the Monty we saw at the start of the season: the goalie who seems to be searching for himself and who doesn't necessarily inspire confidence in front of his net.

So what do we do?

Right now, the Habs can't recall Jacob Fowler. They could, in fact… but they'd have to make room for him in the 23-man roster: either the club makes a trade, or they send Jakub Dobes to Laval.

But Dobes isn't the problem right now. As crooked as he can be in front of the net, he's winning… And anyway, I don't like the idea of playing yo-yo with Fowler.

Whatever the decision, we have to find a solution to correct the goaltending problem. Maybe that solution is to make Dobes play even more because the results are there… but I don't know how confident the Habs would be to go ahead with that plan either.

It's complicated right now. And I hate to say it… but Samuel Montembeault's roller-coaster performance isn't helping matters.
