Since this afternoon, the hockey world has been talking about William Nylander's middle finger to the camera. He was in the press box and, let's face it, it was ordinary.

On Sunday night, he used his Instagram account to apologize to his followers. He said it was a moment of frustration in a story. He replaced his middle finger with a heart emoji with his hands.

However, let's be honest, this isn't a very serious apology for what he did. It's no mean feat to make such a gesture knowing full well that it would be broadcast everywhere. I'm quite disappointed by his reaction; I was expecting a more serious statement, especially in a market like Toronto.

What's more, he apologized to the fans, not to the organization or his teammates, which is really disappointing.

If he wasn't a very important member of the Leafs, he'd likely be traded very quickly. Pressure from the media and Toronto fans could have made a difference.

Obviously, the organization didn't like it, but we should get over it quickly.

Overtime

– The least we can do.

– They'll want to get their act together on Tuesday.

– The debates will continue.
