This afternoon, the Laval Rocket take on the Calgary Flames training club. The club is back in action after two days off.

And of course, we've been keeping an eye on David Reinbacher, whose case has been the talk of the town for the past few days. The young defenseman's development is becoming increasingly worrisome, even though Kent Hughes remains confident about his protégé.

Not that he'd disagree, of course.

And this afternoon, Reinbacher got a bit of luck. With the Rocket short-handed, he took advantage of a sequence in the offensive zone… and the young defenseman found a way to score.

The opposing goalie had lost a skate blade, which made for a… bizarre sequence.

That said, it's the result that counts… and you'd think this goal would do the young man a world of good. This is Reinbacher's first goal since November 22, more than two months ago.

It's also Reinbacher's second point since the start of 2026, and his 10th game since the beginning of January.

It's worth noting that Reinbacher didn't open the scoring for his team: right at the start of the game, Filip Mesar scored the Rocket's first goal.

It ended a six-game pointless drought for Mesar.

Anyway, a weird goal for Reinbacher… but the most important thing is that he was able to score.

Let's see if it helps his confidence now.

Overtime

– Good listening.

– It's understandable.

Oh?
