The Habs faced the Sabres last night, but lost.

There were seven other games across the NHL.

Here are the results and highlights:

1. Steven Stamkos hat trick

In Nashville, Roman Josi played his 1,000th NHL game.

This deserves to be highlighted.

But it was Steven Stamkos who stole the show.

He scored a hat trick and now has 16 goals in his last 21 games.

Nashville, losing 3-0, won 5-3. The winning goal (and Stamkos' third) came in the dying moments of the third period.

Brady Tkachuk was furious and smashed his stick against the post.

From bad to worse for Ottawa…

In defeat, Stephen Halliday scored his first NHL goal. A small positive in this game for the visitors, then.

2. Matthew Tkachuk's first point of the season

Matthew Tkachuk has been injured for most of the season.

Yesterday, in his second game of the season, he collected his first point. An assist on Sam Bennett's goal.

It was the Panthers' only goal in a 2-1 shootout victory.

Tkachuk was also shuffled. Adam Lowry abused him after he went after Josh Morrissey.

Florida needed only two shooters in the shootout to win.

Sam Reinhart gave his club the extra point.

3. Three goals in 54 seconds for the Bruins

The Bruins won 4-3 against the Knights last night, and let's just say it started well.

In the first period, Boston scored three goals in 54 seconds.

And on the team's fourth goal, Nikita Zadorov did all the work for David Pastrnak.

What a play!

Joonas Korpisalo held down the fort in front of the net.

He made a fine save from Ivan Barbashev.

Vegas tried to rally, scoring three goals, but it wasn't enough.

4. Brett Kulak misses Edmonton

It was an Edmonton reunion, as Stuart Skinner and Brett Kulak returned to Edmonton.

Skinner and former teammate Ryan Nugent-Hopkins spoke before the start of the game.

For his part, Kulak said in an interview that he missed the spot.

I can imagine.

It was the two Penguins who had the last laugh.

Pittsburgh crushed Tristan Jarry and the Oilers 6-2.

In the end, Leon Draisaitl's return to the lineup made no difference.

Giving up three goals in the first three minutes of the game doesn't help…

5. Blue Jackets have four wins in five games since hiring Rick Bowness

Presumably, the Jackets have been whipped into shape by the hiring of new head coach Rick Bowness.

Since he took over, the team has a 4-1-0 record. Yesterday, they won 1-0 against the Dallas Stars.

A 28-save performance for Jet Greaves, who blanked one of the NHL's top clubs.

The only goal of the game was scored by Zach Werenski.

The defenseman is at the top of the NHL scoring charts among defensemen.

Charlie Coyle did not pick up an assist on the goal.

He was, however, playing his 1000th game in the Bettman circuit.
