There was plenty of action last night in the NHL.

The Canadiens managed to win their game against the Wild… and they can thank Cole Caufield, who (again) played the hero at the end of the game.

Let's see what happened elsewhere in the league, though:

1: 13th win in 14 games for the Lightning

The Lightning received a visit from the (very) surprising San Jose Sharks.

And Jon Cooper's men didn't have too much trouble coming away with the W. The Sharks opened the scoring, but the Lightning scored three times in a row to take the lead:

At 3-1, the Lightning were really in control of the game.

The Sharks pulled their goalie late in the game… but it was already too late. The Lightning scored in an empty net to win 4-1 and record their thirteenth victory in 14 games.

Things are going really, really well in Tampa Bay these days. And even if the Habs win, the Lightning are starting to scare me for the playoffs.

The club looks unstoppable right now…

2: A rare quiet night for McDavid

Connor McDavid rarely gets a clean sheet. But… it happens.

That was the case last night in the Oilers' 2-1 loss to the New Jersey Devils. McDavid was unable to contribute offensively for the rare time since the start of the season.

Vasily Podkolzin came to his defense after Johnathan Kovacevic dangerously hit the Oilers captain:

Speaking of the Oilers vs Devils game, we have to show this save made by Tristan Jarry.

You'll understand when you see the following sequence:

At least Jarry took over and put on a show to entertain fans in Edmonton even though the Oilers lost… Hehe.

3: Another win for the Sabres

One, two, three…

The Sabres scored three goals in the first period against the Nashville Predators last night.

And at the start of the second period, Tage Thompson joined the party with a splendid goal:

The Preds came from behind to score three unanswered goals… but good thing Alex Lyon was in form on the Sabres side.

This save says it all:

The Sabres finally held on: they won the game 5-3 and are now 6-3-1 in their last ten games.

They're a sight to behold right now.

4: The Lightning, the Sabres… but also the Sens

There's a lot going on in the Atlantic Division right now, with almost every club enjoying success.

Yesterday, the Sabres won, and so did the Lightning… but so did the Senators, who beat the Columbus Blue Jackets 4-1:

The win will be good for Ottawa because it's been a little tougher for the Sens lately.

After all, this is only the Senators' fourth win in ten games. The saga surrounding the (false?) Linus Ullmark rumors has attracted a lot of attention and really seemed to bother the club on the ice.

But yesterday's victory was a good one. Whether the Sens can build on this remains to be seen…

5: Two more goals for Jason Robertson

Last night, Cole Caufield scored with 15 seconds left to give the Habs the win.

He sent a message to Bill Guerin, who ignored it with an eye on the next Olympics. But last night, Jason Robertson also got his revenge… by scoring two fine goals against the Boston Bruins.

Robertson, with 29 goals, is now the NHL's third leading scorer.

Robertson and Caufield have both been ignored by Team USA, despite being among the National League's top scorers AND goal scorers.

That's something, though. I wonder how upset they'll be…

Because let's face it: they'll be crying if the Americans lose by one goal in the gold medal game. Hehe.
