Let's summarize the Canadiens' forward injury situation.
The Habs currently have 13 healthy forwards (the 12 who played yesterday plus Samuel Blais) and three injured: Alex Newhook, Patrik Laine, and Alexandre Texier.
Newhook won't be back before the Olympics. Next.
Patrik Laine is getting really close to a return to action. We don't know how the Habs will manage to make room for him (if that's what they want to do) in their top-12, the day he's ready.
What about Alexandre Texier? He's injured and being considered on a day-to-day basis. He missed yesterday's game against Minnesota.
We weren't sure what to expect from the Frenchman next, but our colleague Patrick Guillet has just reported that the forward took to the ice in Brossard this morning.
He had recently missed practice. Seeing him take part this morning is therefore positive.

Does this mean he'll be able to play tomorrow's game? It's too early to say – but we can see that this morning, the coach didn't want to change his winning formula from yesterday.
Is that a clue for tomorrow?
Dach is still with Suzuki and Caufield in practice this morning.
Texier, Blais, and Laine are not in the regular lineup.

Seeing Texier skate is a good sign. Even if it does raise new questions about the line-up.
Yesterday, we sensed that the new internal struggle was forcing the guys to go the extra mile. They know that skipping their turn is an increasingly realistic possibility. And in the end, it's the Habs who come out the winner, since it raises the club's level of play.
overtime
– Of course.
Once again, Lane Hutson and Ivan Demidov are the first two players on the ice this morning in Brossard.
Despite their success last night, the two young players are working on their passing and shooting under the supervision of Adam Nicholas.@DLCoulisses… pic.twitter.com/tL5IBMVJHg

– Interesting.
I can understand the most invested fans not tripping over Jahkeele Marshall-Ruty.
I'm not a huge Marshall-Rutty fan myself for 1001 reasons. One day, I'll tell you all about it…
But for now, we need to talk: NEVER not. .. https://t.co/msZSJLZcJh

– Ouch.
We're not even close to seeing baseball in 2027, because the players aren't going to give in. https://t.co/douLb6Nbzz

There's this particular prospect in the Habs pool that almost nobody talks about.
The Canadiens are, however, pretty excited about his potential. https://t. co/I7jX52CqPo
