That's it, then. It's done.
Kiefer Sherwood has finally been traded. The forward's name had been in the rumor mill for a few weeks and the Canucks have finally found a partner to dance with.
The Sharks have acquired the forward. In return, the Canucks get Cole Clayton… and two second-round picks (one in 2026, the other in 2027).
General Manager Patrik Allvin announced today that the #Canucks have acquired Cole Clayton and 2nd round picks in both the 2026 and 2027 NHL Entry Drafts from the San Jose Sharks in exchange for Kiefer Sherwood.

Let's break it all down.
1. So that means no, the Canadiens didn't manage to acquire Sherwood. The forward has been linked to the Montreal club of late because he fit the Habs' needs, but Kent Hughes ended up being snapped up by Mike Grier.
Was the Canucks' asking price too high for Kent Hughes?
2. Speaking of price…
The Sharks didn't have to part with the moon to get Sherwood out of Vancouver. We know that his value wasn't as high as it was a few days ago, but still: the Canucks didn't receive a first-round pick for Sherwood, as has been discussed in recent weeks.
And with the deadline not necessarily around the corner, it makes you wonder why the Canucks decided to trade him right now for two second-round picks and a prospect.
More details to come…
