This afternoon, the Laval Rocket took on the Manitoba Moose at Place Bell. The match was particularly interesting in that it featured Jacob Fowler in net.
It was Fowler's first start since his dismissal from the AHL yesterday morning.
And after 40 minutes, Fowler was still perfect. That said, his club hadn't helped him, so the score was 0-0.
The first goal of the game finally came in the second half of the third period, scored by the Moose.
Fowler was beaten by a shot from Brad Lambert's blue line (and by traffic in front of him).

Then, a few minutes later, the Moose took advantage of a powerplay… and doubled their lead, courtesy of Nikita Chibrikov.
Once again, it was a long-range shot that caught Fowler off guard… and this time, there was no traffic in front of him at all.

And in the final minutes of the game, the Moose added a third, this time into an empty net. And in the process, it confirmed the Moose's 3-0 victory.
The last 72 seconds of the game were not contested: a fan became unwell in the stands, and it was decided to stop the game rather than wait to complete it. We wish the person in question all the best, of course.
A decision to stop the match was taken due to a medical emergency involving a fan in the stands. The game ended 3-0 with 1 minute 12 seconds remaining.

Fowler finished the game with 27 saves on 29 shots. He was solid for the first two periods, but things went south for him in the third… although it's hard to blame the goalie in a game where he had no offensive support whatsoever.
Not surprisingly, this is now the fourth consecutive loss for the Rocket, who have been struggling to win games recently.
Let's see if Fowler's return helps.
Overtime
– It's understandable.
Panarin on how he received yesterday's news: “It's hard to say how I feel. I'm still confused, but the GM decided to go in a different direction. I'm okay with that. I'm a Ranger player right now, so I'll play every game 100%.”#NYR

– To watch.
David Pagnotta: Re Elias Pettersson: Teams are poking around, I'm curious about some of them, like LA, Chicago, Utah, Ottawa, having some interest in the past, I could certainly see them circling back; I'll throw Carolina in there too – Inside Sports (1/14)
