The Rangers are not living up to expectations.

The club is in last place in the Eastern Conference because the guys aren't getting the job done. The acquisition of J.T. Miller is not having the desired effect, and Chris Drury is getting fed up.

The team's GM in New York did what Jeff Gorton decided to do in 2018, which was to write an open letter to fans with the aim of announcing a “retool.” The organization wants to offer its fans a better team for the coming years.

It's a technique… a little daring.

Especially in the context of having done the same thing in the past with the Rangers. Chris Drury's letter bears a striking resemblance to Jeff Gorton's, and on X, the news is getting people talking in droves.

And you'll understand that it's not pretty everywhere either…

In the letter in question, Drury specifies that the Rangers won't be rebuilding.

Instead, the plan is to build around the players and prospects already in place within the organization. But…

But it does imply that there will be a shake-up in the Big Apple in the near future. Players will be leaving (wonder what's going to happen with Artemi Panarin), and we can expect the Rangers to be aggressive on the market to get rid of players they no longer want.

Could a guy like Alexis Lafrenière become available before too long? And if so… do the Habs absolutely have to get their noses into the matter to try and revive the Québécois' career?

We know JiC likes this idea…

Right.

Obviously… what's next is still shaping up to be pretty intriguing in New York. It's going to be a bumpy ride over the next few weeks, and the club will definitely be one to watch on the transaction market.

It remains to be seen how this message will pan out. But fans in New York have every right to be worried, with everything that's going on right now…

Overtime

– That's a good one.

– The kid impressed me yesterday.

– He's playing well.

– Nice jersey.
