At just 18 years of age, Alexander Zharovsky is having a truly respectable season in the KHL.

The Canadiens' prospect scored (again) today: that's 13 goals and 20 assists (33 points) in just 38 games since the start of the campaign.

He's producing at a really interesting rate, especially for a youngster his age in a league like the KHL. And when you see him scoring goals like he did earlier today, you can see why the Canadiens really wanted him in the last draft.

But in reality, Zharovsky probably shouldn't have slipped so much.

The Canadiens had him high on their list and could have selected him with pick #16 or #17 had the club not traded for the services of Noah Dobson earlier in the day.

And now… Zharovsky is so impressive that people are talking about him as a possible steal at the last NHL amateur auction. Even Corey Pronman ranks him 8th on his list if he had to redo the first 16 picks of the 2025 first round.

The Habs prospect is ahead of guys like Anton Frondell (3rd) and Caleb Desnoyers (4th), who were drafted in the top-4:

There's no guarantee that Zharovsky will have a great NHL career…

But one thing's for sure: seeing him dominate the KHL as he is right now doesn't go unnoticed.

He's on his way to becoming the best U19 player in KHL history in terms of offensive production, and it's not even close with the others when you look at his numbers:

It's really too early to come to any conclusions.

That said, the Canadiens must be really happy to see their youngster so good… so quickly. We know that not every 18-year-old manages to make a name for himself in the KHL (even if he gets quality playing time), but Zharovsky is accomplishing something special at the same time.

And it's certainly hard not to get excited about his season right now.
