The Canadiens had a good first half of the season.

Expectations were high before the start of the season… and Kent Hughes said he was pleased with his team's progress in his review a week ago.

That says a lot, after all.

In José Théodore's eyes, the Habs are truly surprising. The former goalie didn't see the club winning so many games in the first portion of the schedule, and he realizes that it's no flash in the pan.

But… Théo still pissed on the parade, saying on 98.5 FM that the Habs have more points than they should. He thinks the club has been lucky in a way and has won some unexpected games.

Théo is entitled to his opinion. But the results are there anyway, and there's no one who can take that away from the Habs right now.

That's also why, seeing the team being so good so far, we're talking about the idea of seeing Kent Hughes improve the lineup to help the guys even more. And on that front, Blake Coleman's name has become popular in recent weeks… even if Elliotte Friedman threw cold water on those rumors yesterday.

That said, now we have two big informants doubting the Canadiens rumor, because Pierre LeBrun thinks the same thing.

LeBrun(Sick Podcast) doesn't see Coleman being traded:

Regardless of whether the Habs acquire Coleman or not, they have to keep the same mentality.

They have to show up for every game to give themselves a chance to win… and tonight's test will be an interesting one for Martin St-Louis' men.

The Canadiens will take on the Sabres, who have been on a roll lately. 14 wins in 16 games is excellent… and the Sabres are to be taken seriously for the first time in a long time .

The Habs can't look at tonight's game thinking it's going to be easy.

It's an away game… and the Sabres – along with the Lightning – are among the hottest teams in the NHL right now.

Let's see how Martin St-Louis' men respond in the face of adversity – and let's see how Jacob Fowler plays in front of one of the best teams in the National League right now.
