Alexandre Texier is one of the great stories of the Canadiens' season so far.

He arrived in Montreal with the goal of reviving his career(even though the Habs were considering trading him at the deadline), and that's exactly what happened. The Frenchman has 16 points in 25 games (a pace of 52 points per season) and plays on the team's top line.

That's no mean feat, we agree. And seeing him shine so brightly is refreshing in a way.

Texier signed a contract extension with the Canadiens because he loves his current environment. But… there's more to it than that.

According to Nicolas Cloutier, who spoke to Texier's agent, the player signed a contract extension because he believes in the Canadiens' chances of winning a Stanley Cup by the end of his contract.

And let's not forget: Tex's contract expires at the end of the 2027-2028 season. In other words, the Frenchman believes his club can go all the way in two (and a half) years:

The Canadiens will have what it takes to be truly dangerous. And if the youngsters continue to develop in the right way, as they're doing right now, it's going to get even more interesting.

But Texier has also admitted: he's loved playing for the Habs ever since he arrived in Montreal, and his teammates are a big part of that.

He's respected in the locker room and the guys really like him. It shows when you see videos like this one:

The reason the players are so happy to see him stay is because Texier has integrated well into the group.

But we know that there's a great atmosphere in the group and that players have no trouble acclimatizing to the team when they arrive. We have to take our hats off to the leaders, because they are capable of welcoming newcomers.

So much the better. Because everyone seems to be happy that Texier has signed a contract extension in Montreal.

And if he's in a position to help the Canadiens win the Stanley Cup, that'll be the icing on the sundae!

Overtime

– He looks ready.

– Coming up.

– What do we think?

– Indeed.
