Last week, Blake Coleman became a popular guy in Montreal. We know the Canadiens are looking for gritty forwards, and Pierre LeBrun linked Coleman's name to the Canadiens.

Unsurprisingly, it got people talking.

We know that the Flames, who are having a difficult season, are expected to sell at the next trade deadline. So the idea of Coleman leaving makes sense… but as for rumors with the Habs, there are some who are skeptical.

One of them is Elliotte Friedman, who discussed all this on his 32 Thoughts podcast. And what we understand is that he's pretty skeptical about the possibility of it happening:

I've been told by teams not to believe the rumors that send him to Montreal. – Elliotte Friedman

According to Friedman, there are teams that may have an advantage over the Habs in this matter. The Habs wouldn't currently be a favorite for Coleman's services.

Does this have anything to do with the list of 10 teams Coleman would be willing to trade to? Possibly.

Of course, this could all change over the next few months. Perhaps Kent Hughes will be able to make a convincing pitch to the Flames and find a way to add Coleman to his roster.

But what we understand right now is that the club may be forced to look elsewhere to add some grit to its lineup.

Perhaps to Vancouver for a guy like Kiefer Sherwood, for example…
