As we all know, the Canadiens are still looking to improve between now and the trade deadline. The club acquired Phillip Danault last month and will soon be back from injury, but it still wants to add reinforcements from outside.

We're talking mainly about forwards who would bring sandpaper… but who obviously won't be named Blake Coleman.

The name of Kiefer Sherwood, for example, has been bandied about. Over the past few hours, however, there have been others that have been the talk of the town.

Tonight, for example, Félix Séguin took advantage of his appearance on JiC to mention the name of a Québécois forward: Anthony Mantha.

The Québécois is doing well in Pittsburgh this year, with 14 goals and 29 points in 45 games.

Mantha, who is a real colossus, could certainly help the club's top-9 by adding muscle to a group that doesn't have much of it. Aside from Juraj Slafkovský and Josh Anderson, there aren't many big men on the Habs top-9 right now.

The Québécois will earn $2.5 million this year and will be a free agent this summer. He would therefore be a rental player… just like another name that has been circulating.

On Tony Marinaro's Sick Podcast, the Snake also brought up a guy who, while not as big, has grit to spare: Erik Haula.

He has eight goals and 24 points in 46 games for Nashville this season, earning $3 million.

There's reason to believe that a guy like Mantha (whom the Penguins could also decide to keep if they believe in their chances this year, remember) would cost more than Haula, obviously. And in a seller's market, these guys could cost a bit more than usual.

That said, they won't cost a fortune either, and they could help the Habs plug some holes. To be continued.
