Kiefer Sherwood: Chris Johnston weighs in on his value (and the habs have everything they need)
Kiefer Sherwood is a player of interest to the Canadiens.
It's no secret… and we've heard it several times in recent weeks. It makes sense, after all, because Sherwood is a rugged forward who can score goals.
And that's exactly what the Habs are looking for right now.
Chris Johnston talked about the Canucks' forward on his show recently, and commented on the forward's value. In his eyes, Vancouver would like a first-round pick… but Johnston believes the Canucks could also accept a 2nd-round pick in return for Sherwood's services.
The Canadiens have what it takes to get him out of Vancouver.
Chris Johnston: Re Kiefer Sherwood: I think the Canucks would love to get a first-round pick for him, we'll see if they are able to, might end up being a second-round pick; but he's someone I think could be moved quickly – Chris Johnston Show (1/9)

We know Kent Hughes: he's a gifted negotiator, and he's capable of doing well when he makes a deal.
That's notably been the case with Phillip Danault, Noah Dobson, and Alexandre Carrier…
That said, the Habs are equipped to go to war because they're loaded with picks between now and 2029. The Habs have all but their fifth-round picks in the next draft (and they have picks from other clubs, too) for the next four years, and that sure can be attractive to a club looking to rebuild like the Canucks:

Kiefer Sherwood for a second-round pick… I'd find that really interesting for the Canadiens.
Because, again, the player has what it takes to fill a fairly important need in the Montreal lineup. It takes a more physical guy with a certain offensive touch, and Sherwood fits that mold perfectly with his style.
Especially in light of the Canadiens' playoff woes last year. Adding a player like Sherwood would help in that regard… and it would give the Habs an excellent player on their bottom-6 to round out the current group.
