Lane Hutson can't stay away from the rink. He's built that way.

Whenever he can, he skates. He even did it on December 24 with some youngsters… and on December 25 under the same conditions, but with Ivan Demidov.

The guy's a real enthusiast.

Of course, everyone's wondering if he's going to discharge his batteries at some point. After all, days off are useful in this respect too.

And clearly, the Canadiens are keeping that in mind.

Why do I say that? Because yesterday, he wasn't at the club's optional practice… because the Canadiens forbade him to skate so he could rest.

Eric Engels reported the whole thing, saying that Hutson didn't like it, but that he understood why the Habs made such a request of him.

Yesterday, we were wondering why Hutson wasn't on the ice with the other guys in Brossard. Let's just say that the Sportsnet journalist's tweet answers our questions.

On the heels of the condensed schedule (due to the Olympics), it's normal to have to dose the guys' energy.

It's nice to have a guy who loves hockey so much that you have to tell him to stop. It's with players like that that the Habs can build a winning culture.

It's clearly better that way than the other way around.
