Adding another quality forward to the Canadiens line-up could make the club even more dangerous as the playoffs approach.
And we also know that Kent Hughes' plan is to improve his roster between now and the next NHL trade deadline.
Ideally, there are two kinds of players who would help right now : a guy with a more rugged style who can score goals… and a forward who can play on the team's top-6. And there are several names that could fit into either of these groups.
Of the lot, Brayden Schenn might be the obvious one. The Blues aren't having a great season, and Schenn, who has big-league experience, would add leadership and offensive punch to the team's top-6.
And you know what else?
According to David Pagnotta, the Habs are “among” the teams interested in him. In a recent article, the tipster also mentioned the Devils, Leafs, Hurricanes, and Capitals among the clubs rumored to be interested.

This isn't the first time we've heard Schenn's name linked to the Canadiens.
Because it's true that on paper… the idea can still be pretty logical. We're talking about a guy who's having a tougher season in St. Louis (like the rest of his teammates), but who's produced at a rate of 55 to 60 points in recent years.
The only thing that bothers me about this, though… is the contract.
Schenn's annual salary is $6.5 million… but his deal doesn't expire until the summer of 2028. That's a lot of money for a guy who seems to be slowing down and is already 34 years old.
In the short term, perhaps he'd prove to be a really interesting solution for the Habs. Schenn can play center as well as wing, he's proven himself in the National League, and he could guide the youngsters to the playoffs because he's already won the Stanley Cup.
But the Blues won't give him away for nothing either. And seeing Kent Hughes' recent moves, I'm inclined to think that the GM won't give the moon for a guy that age… unless the guy in question is named Sidney Crosby.

According to multiple sources, William Karlsson will not be available to VGK when NHL play begins following the Olympics, and he's highly unlikely to be ready before the Trade Deadline on March 6th.
There is a reasonable chance he does not play again this season (including the…
