These days, the NHL rumor mill seems to be in slow motion. It's not usually the most active time in the NHL.
Nonetheless, there are a few files to keep an eye on.
In this article, you'll find information on Jonathan Marchessault, Dougie Hamilton, Rasmus Andersson, and Nazem Kadri. These players have been the talk of the town for some time now.
Let's find out where they stand.
Jonathan Marchessault's name no longer in circulation, for the time being
Jonathan Marchessault has been the talk of the town in recent months. Several rumors had him headed elsewhere, and that wouldn't be a bad thing for the Nashville Predators, who could be in the process of rebuilding.
Even if he doesn't have as much impact as he used to, he can still bring offense and experience (a Stanley Cup) to a top-9 club.
However, according to Elliotte Friedman on the DMase Vingan & Daunic podcast, the reputable tipster doesn't hear much about the Québécois player in the rumor mill.
Elliotte Friedman: I'm starting to go through right now, okay, who's available, who's out there…and I'm not hearing a lot of Jonathan Marchessault's name; until he comes back from the injury he might not be out there as much – DMase Vingan & Daunic (1/8)

Marchessault is currently injured “day to day” and until the Québécois returns to action, his name won't really be circulating, if Friedman's words are anything to go by.
Sharks attempt to acquire Dougie Hamilton
The San Jose Sharks are playing very well this season, thanks in large part to Macklin Celebrini. The young sensation ranks third in the entire NHL in points scored this season, with 70 points in just 44 games.
The Sharks' offense is doing just fine thanks to the 19-year-old Canadiens, but we all know that the Sharks' defensive brigade can certainly be improved.
That's why San Jose tried to acquire a big name recently, one that's getting more and more buzz: Dougie Hamilton.

However, as Sheng Peng tells us, Hamilton blocked a deal that would have sent him to the San Jose Sharks
This afternoon, the Devils faced the Winnipeg Jets and Johnathan Kovaceic returned to action. To the surprise of many, Hamilton was left out so that Kovacevic could play…
The 6'6″ right-handed defenseman is not having a good season (10 points in 40 games), having been used to much more productive seasons than this.
The star player and his agent can't be too happy about this decision. We can therefore expect to see him change addresses sooner rather than later.
Rasmus Andersson still of interest to the Golden Knights
Another defenseman who has been the talk of the town for a few months now is Rasmus Andersson of the Calgary Flames.
The Vegas Golden Knights have expressed interest in him in the past, and Nick Kypreos mentioned that Vegas would still be interested in his services.
Nick Kypreos: I still think Vegas is circling on Rasmus Andersson and could be interested in moving on that before the Olympics – Sportsnet (1/7)

Of course, Andersson would be a great addition for the Knights, but the price tag for a defenseman of his caliber must be pretty steep.
Braeden Bowman and Trevor Connelly are young players who could interest the Flames in a possible trade. However, Calgary will need at least one more first-round pick to discuss a possible trade.
Nazem Kadri's age and contract don't attract other teams
If there's one name that's been circulating in trade rumors for some time, it's Nazem Kadri.
The 35-year-old center is still enjoying a good season, with 32 points in 45 games this season.
However, his advanced age and his contract (three more years at $7 million per season) are not very attractive to contending teams. As a result, the trade offers aren't very attractive to the Flames.
That's why Nick Kypreos believes he probably won't be traded before the trade deadline.
Nick Kypreos: Re Nazem Kadri: Teams are wary of his age and the remaining term on his deal. The offers haven't been inspiring, and that decision may drag right up until the trade deadline – Sportsnet (1/7)

A hefty contract like Kadri's for a 35-year-old center takes time to negotiate a trade.
Let's see if a team will try to acquire him.
