Two assists for Zharovsky: chemistry with Evgeny Kuznetsov is in place

A few days ago, former NHLer Evgeny Kuznetsov joined Ufa's Salavat Yulaev in the KHL, the team of Canadiens prospect Alexander Zharovsky.

Kuznetsov mentored Ivan Demidov last season with SKA St. Petersburg, and now Kuzy is likely to do the same with another of the Habs' top Russian prospects.

Zharovsky has already benefited from Kuznetsov's arrival in the latter's first game, and this connection between the two was repeated today.

Indeed, as Kuznetsov played his second game with Salavat Yulaev, we could see the chemistry developing between the former Caps player and Zharovsky.

The Canadiens' prospect assisted on Kuznetsov's first goal with Ufa, and added another assist in a 3-1 win over the Astana Barys.

Here's Kuznetsov's goal.

Zharovsky earned two points in the game, as did Evgeny Kuznetsov.

The two men were accomplices on Yegor Suchkov's goal, the first of the game, which you can see in the video below, which features a recap of Zharovsky's performance.

The Habs prospect now has 32 points in 36 games, bringing him within four points of the all-time record for a KHL player under 19.

Zharovsky turns 20 on February 22, so he still has more than a month to break that record and push it as far as he can.

It's also worth noting that #97's 20 assists this season already represent the most by a player under 19 in KHL history.

Now, to get back to Kuznetsov, well, we could see a nice chemistry developing between the veteran and Zharovsky.

As was the case with Demidov, Kuznetsov seems to find Zharovsky well on the ice and vice versa, which makes for some great play.

Kuznetsov already has three points in two games since arriving in Ufa, and that's likely to increase rapidly given that he plays a lot, and on the same line as Zharovsky.

In short, it's great that another top prospect can benefit from playing with a very good NHLer, as it can only be beneficial to his development.

It's worth noting that Ufa's Salavat Yulaev is quietly climbing back up the standings and now sits in 7th place in the Eastern Conference, which gives access to the playoffs.

Let's hope this trend continues, as it would be very interesting to see Zharovsky in action in the playoffs.

Overtime

– Not ideal, let's say.

– Caufield stands out.

– A first goal for Evgeny Kuznetsov with Alexander Zharovsky's team.

– Incredible.
