Over the past few days, the Senators have been in the news for all the wrong reasons. The situation of Linus Ullmark, who has been sidelined from the club, has become rather nebulous… and it got out of hand when an anonymous account started talking about rumors of adultery.

And the Senators, who took the time to respond, only drew more attention to the story.

And now that the club is involved, the players have to answer questions on the subject. Today, for example, Brady Tkachuk was furious that the subject was brought up… and said it was all f*cking bullsh*t.

That said, one point remains: the situation surrounding Ullmark is truly bizarre. The goalie is always around the team (he's often at his team's games), but he's not in the lineup.

And David Pagnotta, who talked about all this on The Sheet podcast with Jeff Marek, mentioned that right now, the relationship between Ullmark and the Senators has really deteriorated.

In fact, it's deteriorated to the point where Ullmark's name is on the market right now.

Of course, all this doesn't mean that the rumor that's been circulating for the past few days is true. That said, if Pagnotta is telling the truth, it's safe to assume that something has happened to cause the situation to deteriorate like this.

According to Pagnotta, there's been tension between Ullmark and the Senators for several weeks now. One wonders if the decision to bring James Reimer into the fold had anything to do with it.

That said, if this whole situation is so nebulous, you have to wonder if there's really a team out there willing to take the gamble of getting Ullmark. The goalie is good when he plays, but he's only in the first year of a four-year contract that pays him $8.25 million a year.

Will a team be desperate enough to take on a player who comes with both that contract and a tricky PR situation? The question arises.

Again, we don't know what really happened between Ullmark and the Senators. But what is clear is that the whole situation is really, really bizarre.

Let's see how it all turns out now.
