The Habs weren't playing, but there were 10 NHL games last night.

Yes, 10 games!

Let's take a look at what caught the eye across the league:

1: Trevor Zegras has fun

Last night, Trevor Zegras faced the Ducks for the first time since being traded to the Philadelphia Flyers.

And he made the most of it… by scoring two big goals in the first period. His celebration on his first goal is perfect (more on that later):

The Flyers dominated Anaheim by a score of 5-2, and clearly Zegras had to be pleased with the way things turned out.

I imagine he'd put a few bucks on the board for that one… hehe.

After the game, Zegras said that beating the Ducks like that and scoring two goals against them was “ f*cking amazing.” And he mentioned that his celebration for his first goal was in reference to the Ducks' call when they told him he'd been traded.

Sick!

He's back to playing hockey in Philly and it's beautiful to see.

Zegras now has 41 points in as many games so far this season… and it really looks like he's comfortable in his new surroundings.

2: Connor McDavid is sensational

For just over a month now, Connor McDavid has been unstoppable.

He picked up a point in his 16th straight game last night… scoring a hat trick against the Predators in his team's 6-2 win.

It looks too easy when he gives it his all:

Are you sitting comfortably?

McDavid, in his last 16 games, has a total of… 17 goals and 22 assists for 39 points.

I guess those who have him in their pool must be really happy to see him producing so much lately. Hehe.

All kidding aside, the Oilers captain's performance enabled him to become the first player this season to reach the 75-point plateau in the NHL.

How far will he go?

3: A dream night for Anthony Duclair

Anthony Duclair is still capable of producing in the NHL.

The proof?

After sitting out two games in a row, he picked up five points (!) last night against the New Jersey Devils on his return to the lineup. And he scored his first hat trick since December 14, 2019 in the NHL:

The Islanders – strap on your toque – beat the Devils by a score of 9-0. A real, real thaw.

Jacob Markstrom finished the game with 15 saves on 24 shots and a .625 save percentage. Agreed: not what you want from your #1 goalie.

And this may be the worst NHL goaltending performance of all time:

4: When Mathieu Olivier puts Ryan Reaves to bed

Mathieu Olivier is probably the toughest big man in the NHL right now. He's never afraid to throw down the gloves to defend himself, and we saw it yesterday… when he got into a fight with Ryan Reaves.

And it was quite a fight:

Ryan Reaves was no match for Olivier, who put him down with a vicious jab near the end of the fight. Hockey as in the good old days!

On the ice, the Sharks won by a score of 5-2 and Macklin Celebrini stood out.

The youngster scored in an empty net to pick up at least one point in his eleventh straight game.

He's solid, really solid:

5: Jets… Phew

We're transported to overtime of the game between the Golden Knights and the Jets.

The score is tied 3-3… and it's Tomas Hertl who steps up to give the Knights the win :

You may be wondering why I'm talking about this game… and it's pretty simple.

With yesterday's loss, the Jets have now won just three of their last 22 games. Nothing seems to be working in Winnipeg, so much so that the club now sits at the very bottom of the NHL's overall standings.

Not what you'd expect after the team's respectable start to the season. But things change quickly in the NHL…
