Zachary Bolduc started the season off with a bang.
The Québécois scored in the first three games of the campaign (as well as adding an assist), and at the time was being talked about as a rising star in Montreal.
Except it's been harder for some time. And the time has come to say this: the kid needs to start producing offensively again.
In his last 19 games, Bolduc has a total of… five points. He's scored just four times and has just one short-handed goal in his last eight games . That's not enough.
Because we know he's got what it takes, after all:

Obviously, we all want to see more from Bolduc.
But… I have two reasons in mind that may explain why it's been harder lately:
1. We're talking about a guy in his second NHL season. And we know that the second-year jinx can strike anyone.
2. It's not easy to produce offensively when you're constantly changing lines. It's clear that he's having trouble creating chemistry with another player in the lineup… but Martin St-Louis needs to stop yo-yoing with him and find a place in the lineup for Bolduc to shine.
That hasn't been the case for some time.
Does Zachary Bolduc deserve a longer audition on the first line?

If Zachary Bolduc can get back to the offensive rhythm he had at the start of the season, the Canadiens will be in a boat.
Because there are other guys who have stepped up lately, and here I'm thinking mainly of Juraj Slafkovsky and Ivan Demidov. If Bolduc can be added to that group, the Habs could be really dangerous up front…
And that's why the Habs picked him up in St. Louis, too: so he could help the club offensively.
Overtime
