On November 16, we learned that Kirby Dach would miss four to six weeks with a fractured foot.
But today is January 6… and Dach still hasn't been given the green light to return to action. We haven't seen him practice with the team, and his rehabilitation looks a little complicated.
Even Kent Hughes is confused when he talks about his player…
The Canadiens' GM mentioned in his mid-season review that the organization was going to take its time with Dach. We don't want to throw him to the wolves, and we don't want to rush things in his case because he has quite a significant injury history.
But where I jumped in was when Hughes mentioned this after a reporter told him about Dach's delay in the timeline of his rehabilitation:
Wasn't it six to eight weeks off for Kirby? – Kent Hughes
You know, it's hard for the team's GM to keep up with the situation…
It's all a bit… special.
Kent Hughes may want to be reassuring, saying that the team wants to take its time with a guy who's often injured, but that's not the case when you see him getting a little mixed up with his own player.
Is there anything we don't know?
Was the originally planned rehabilitation longer than four to six weeks, and was this originally intended to protect the player in a sense?
No matter… Dach doesn't seem to be close to a return to action, and there's cause for concern here. We know he's been sidelined a few times in recent years and hasn't had it easy, but it would have been nice to have more specific news today.
How much do the Habs really miss Kirby Dach right now? I'm asking for a friend…
Because there's this, too: all the players in the Canadiens lineup are playing the right way right now. It may be hard to find a specific role for Dach when he's ready to return to action, especially if Josh Anderson is back by then too…

Hans has good ears.
I'm also hearing other names that continue to be linked to FC Supra: Ismaël Yeo, Omar El Kalkouli, and Alessandro Biello.
Biello would be a great addition to Supra, both in terms of soccer and marketing.
Will interest turn to signing? https://t.co/HUP5HqrNyP
