If there's one player we've all been eagerly awaiting in Montreal, it's Juraj Slafkovsky.
The 2025-26 season finally represents the year the Slovakian comes out of his shell.
However, Slafkovsky was very lucky at the very start of the season… He almost got injured even before the first game of the season at the Bell Centre.
As Slafkovsky recounts in an interview with the NHL, he was involved in a car accident on the way to the Bell Centre for the first home game of the campaign.
In his own words, he was “run into,” and Ivan Demidov has been driving him ever since.
In a new NHL profile video, Juraj Slafkovsky says he got “hit” driving to the first Habs home game of the season.

Fortunately, nothing serious happened. Reminiscent of Emil Heineman's situation in Salt Lake City last year, when he got hit (as a pedestrian, though).
In short, everyone in Montreal is glad to have Slafkovsky on board for the entire season, as he's having the best campaign of his young career.
In the video of Slaf's interview with the NHL, he mentions that Demidov has been a great guy to drive him around since that accident.
It just goes to show that the young Russian is not only an excellent hockey player, but also a guy with values in the right place.
Slafkovsky was keen to point out that it's much easier for him to get to the arena than most players on other teams, since he lives a five-minute drive away.
The Slovak was also keen to point out that it's quite a privilege for him to wear the Habs uniform because of the franchise's history.
Certainly, the Montreal Canadiens have (at least) two jewels in the club's crown in Slafkovsky and Demidov.

– It's a good thing he came back to the situation.

“Some things got spun out of proportion & probably worded things wrongly … I sincerely apologize to the Flames organization & my teammates. At the end of the day, that's not acceptable & that can't happen”@BarDown https://t.co/uiNIkLalMs

David Pagnotta: Re Jake DeBrusk rumors: I think [the Canucks] would listen; DeBrusk has some no-trade protection as part of his contract…so certainly he's gonna have a say if they do explore that – The Sheet (1/2)
