Christian Dvorak left the Canadiens last summer.
He signed a one-season contract with the Philadelphia Flyers ($5.4 million) to build on himself, and it's working.
The center, after all, has 25 points (nine goals) in 39 games so far this season. He's producing at an interesting pace offensively, and is proving that he can contribute offensively for a National League team.
Things are going so well for Dvorak that he's begun talks with the Flyers about a contract extension. And…
And right now, the former Habs man is reportedly lining up to sign a five-year, $25 million contract in Philly. A surprising (?) choice for the Flyers.
Sides still talking, but it sounds like PHI and Dvorak could be closing in on a 5-year, ~$25M contract.
Still not done, but that appears to be where things are at.@DailyFaceoff

I say this would be a surprising choice for the Flyers because Dvorak will celebrate his 30th birthday in less than a month, on February 2.
Five years at $5 million per season for a 30-year-old player of Christian Dvorak's stature is… a lot.
Having said that, let's not forget that the salary cap is going to rise quite considerably over the next few years, and that players' salaries are also going to be more imposing. Good players will be able to make more money… and the same goes for support players.
But I'm pretty sure that the Canadiens must be happy that they won't have to give him a contract like this one.
That would complicate things for Kent Hughes in terms of the payroll, because we know that in Montreal, several players will be making a pretty hefty sum in the next few years.
Good for D-Vo, though. If he's happy in Philly and able to earn that kind of money, he must be pleased with his decision to sign for just one year last summer…
