The Canadiens are in Dallas for their game against the Stars.

And there's one aspect of the game we've been keeping an eye on: the Canadiens' starting goaltender.

Technically, it was Samuel Montembeault's turn because Jakub Dobes (last Thursday in Carolina) and Jacob Fowler (yesterday in St. Louis) have played the club's last two games. And logic was respected:

I'm happy for Monty because he deserves it in a way. He was solid in his first game after his stay in Laval against the Panthers, and it's obvious that the organization wanted to give him another chance to shine.

But…

But then again, Monty will need a big one in his body. The Stars have a great team, and the Canadiens need as many points as possible, because the standings are as tight as they've ever been in the East.

And if Montembeault can keep the momentum going with another big outing, it will only help him for the future. And it could help the Canadiens too…

Note that Josh Anderson is injured (again) and will be evaluated on a day-to-day basis. There will be no change to the forwards: Owen Beck and Samuel Blais will be in uniform.

Oh, and it's also worth noting that the defensive line-up will remain identical. Adam Engström will pass, while Jayden Struble and Arber Xhekaj will face the Stars:

Extension

Now would be the perfect time for the Canadiens to take advantage this afternoon.

The Stars have lost their last four games, and things haven't necessarily been going well for the Dallas outfit lately. It remains to be seen whether the Habs will be able to capitalize on this to pick up two more big points in the standings…
