The Montreal Canadiens and their fans can only be delighted to see Michael Hage performing like this at the World Junior Championship.

The Habs prospect is one of the best players on Team Canada Junior, with nine points in five games, which has any Habs fan excited about his arrival in Montreal.

The current WJC gives us easier access to Hage's performances, allowing us to evaluate him in greater depth.

Canada's #19 is playing some excellent hockey, while his vision and undeniable offensive talent make him the best center in the WJC.

It's clear that Hage has a lot of talent, reminiscent of many of the best centers in the National Hockey League.

In fact, Marco D'Amico sees Hage as a slightly lesser Jack Eichel.

Indeed, that's what D'Amico said recently in an episode of his podcast The Starr & D'Amico Show, when he was quick to praise the qualities of Michael Hage.

Hage is currently D'Amico's best ECHL center, and he's not just a stopgap; on the contrary, he's an essential pivot to the team's success.

Every time Hage touches the puck, something happens, and he's able to make a beautiful play, which is clearly comparable to what Jack Eichel achieves in the NHL.

D'Amico believes that offensively, Hage is already at NHL level, and that his confidence will enable him to make the leap without too much difficulty.

It's a big comparison all the same, given that Jack Eichel, who has 41 points, including 12 goals, in 32 games this season, is one of the NHL's best centerpieces.

If Hage can really become a slightly lesser version of Jack Eichel, it would be a real luxury for the Canadiens to have him as their second center.

It's also worth noting that D'Amico said there's no risk of Hage not signing with the Habs, and that it's more a formality than anything else whether he signs this season or next.

According to D'Amico, Hage is likely to join the Habs as soon as his NCAA season ends, rather than staying on for another NCAA season with the University of Michigan.
