Aside from a difficult start to the season due to his contractual situation, Lane Hutson is having an absolutely incredible second season in the National Hockey League.
Let's just say the Montreal Canadiens' #48 doesn't know what it's like, a second-year jinx.
Hutson is amazing this season, even more dominant than last season, as evidenced by his 40 points, including six goals (his total from last season), in 41 games.
That's phenomenal production, and puts Hutson in third place among defensemen.
In short, at the age of 21, the Habs defenseman is already one of the NHL's best, and therefore already inspiring other young defensemen.
In fact, Hutson is so good and so impressive that he has already become the idol of a young Czech defenseman, who is currently playing at the World Junior Championship.
A question that has been burning in Minnesota since the start of the World Junior Championship: who will dare draft Tomas Galvas in his third year of eligibility?
The little Czech defenseman has just made history. https://t.co/9FG8uuTC60

Tomas Galvas, a 19-year-old Czech defenseman, told TVA Sports' Nicolas Cloutier in an interview that his favorite player was Lane Hutson, and that he'd like to be like him later in his career.
So it's huge that a defenseman who will be 20 on February 11 sees Hutson, who is only 21, as his idol and role model.
Of course, Galvas' height plays a huge part in his admiration for Hutson, given that at 5'9″, he was ignored in his first two years of draft eligibility.
Indeed, the Czech defenseman has yet to be drafted into the NHL, despite being eligible for both the 2024 and 2025 editions.
But this year, things should be different, or at least we hope so for him, given that he's having a terrific CMJ with eight points, including three goals, in five games.
This is his third appearance at the CMJ, which has given him 14 points in 18 games, a record for a Czech defender at this tournament.
In short, it's truly wonderful to see the extent to which Hutson has already left his mark on the imaginations of his generation and the next.
His game, his talent, his fighting spirit, and his work ethic make him an inspiring role model for any offensive defenseman of his style.
Overtime
– It would still make sense.
