Before I get started with last night's game summary, I'd like to take a moment to wish all our readers a Happy New Year!

Last night, on New Year's Eve, 10 NHL games were on the schedule.

Here are the results and highlights:

1. Tom Wilson Classic

Tom Wilson's nomination whipped him.

Yesterday, he played a Tom Wilson game. He was disruptive, he scored goals and he handed out checks.

In the first period, he and Logan Thompson received a standing ovation, by the way.

In the second period, Wilson, who finished the game with two goals and an assist, scored.

He added more later in the game, as he reached the 200-goal plateau in his career.

Here are more highlights from his crazy game:

Hockeyfeed believes that with this game, he made Team Canada regret their decision.

On the contrary… I think the nation needs a guy like him.

2. Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane reunited

In Detroit, the Jets were passing through.

It was a reunion between Jonathan Toews and Patrick Kane, the Blackhawks' former dynamic duo.

It feels weird…

In a 2-1 Wings win, Toews recorded an assist on Logan Stanley's goal.

Mason Appleton scored against his former team.

3. Macklin Celebrini whipped by his Olympic nomination

Macklin Celebrini has been named to Team Canadiens for the upcoming Olympic Games.

And clearly, like Wilson, his appointment has whipped him. He scored a goal and an assist.

And in the 4-3 shootout win, he scored the winning goal in the shootout.

Celebrini, however, is capable of both the best and the worst.

Here, he recorded an assist on Mats Zuccarrello's Wild goal.

It's December and the Sharks have as many wins in 2025-2026 as they did in 2024-2025.

Wow.

Minnesota goaltender Jesper Wallstedt stopped 25 shots in defeat.

And let's just say he's no slouch.

4,600th goal for Steven Stamkos

The Nashville Predators are having a good time these days.

In their last six games, they are 5-1-0.

Steven Stamkos is a big part of this happy sequence.

Yesterday, he scored his 600th career goal.

He's scored at least two goals against every franchise except the Tampa Bay Lightning.

In the win, Luke Evangelista was the only two-point scorer for the Preds.

5. The Nathan MacKinnon show against the Avalanche

Jordan Binnington didn't have the best outing against the Colorado Avalanche.

He didn't exactly silence his critics about his Olympic nomination.

Not even five minutes into the game, the score was already 4-0.

Binnington allowed six goals on 43 shots.

After one period, Nathan MacKinnon had more shots than the Blues.

Speaking of Mack, he played a strong game, collecting two goals and two assists.

His first goal put him over the 400 mark for his career.
