Canada won last night's match against Finland.

And what do you know?

Once again, Michael Hage stood out. He was one of the forwards most used by his coach because he creates things every time he steps on the ice. The Canadiens' prospect picked up two assists in his team's victory and once again showed his talent. His tournament will not go unnoticed.

Actually… it goes further than that.

With his eight points since the start of the tournament, Hage finished the qualifying phase as the competition's leading scorer (two goals and six assists). He is Canada's best forward and possibly the most dominant player at the World Junior Championship so far.

Which prompts me to say this: if the tournament ended today, I'd like to see Hage named MVP of the competition. And it's crazy how much his popularity is growing in the hockey world:

We knew Michael Hage was good.

He was excellent at the Canadiens' last development camp last summer, and he's having a really good NCAA season with his team. With 28 points in just 20 games, he's establishing himself as one of the favorites for the Hobey Baker Trophy.

But…

To see him dominate on the international stage like he is right now is even more special. It shows that he's not afraid of the big moments and that he can handle the pressure.

Has anyone ever told you there's a lot of pressure in the Montreal market?

It's really encouraging for the future, at least. And even then, seeing how good he is right now, it's hard not to get excited about the future.

He'll have some big shoes to fill when he plays for the Canadiens, but he certainly seems ready for the challenge…
