At the beginning of December, the Habs were in doubt.
The team had just endured a difficult 5-5-3 November. It had numerous injuries, difficulties in front of the net and a particularly busy schedule, with 13 games in 22 days before the Christmas break.
Despite all this, the Habs' young players were able to face up to the adversity and go on to score 19 points out of a possible 30, with a return of .633.
For the Habs, it was imperative to bounce back in December to keep their playoff chances alive.

In 15 games in December, Martin St-Louis' team posted an 8-4-3 record and currently occupies third place in the Atlantic Division, just one point behind the Lightning and Red Wings.
Not bad for a team with so many injured players, many of whom thought their good start to the season was just a flash in the pan.
The recall of Jacob Fowler helped stabilize the situation in front of the Habs' net, as the club's two goalkeepers struggled to give their teammates a chance to win games in November.
There are still a lot of questions about the goaltending situation in Montreal in the short and long term, but for now, they're getting the job done.
Overall, the Canadiens are playing better and giving away fewer chances to their opponents, but they often miss chances on attack that end up hurting the team.
However, despite a good month of December, one small downside persists: the club continues to underperform at home, with a record of 4-4 good for a return of .500 at home, which is hard to understand.
Especially since the Habs are doing really well on opposing rinks, with a 4-1-3 (.688) record over the past month.
This is a trend we've seen since the start of the season, with Montreal playing better on the road than at home, and it's something that will have to change next year.
Nevertheless, the Canadiens are approaching the halfway point of the season with a very respectable 21-12-6 record and 48 points from 39 games, and if they can avoid the infirmary by the end of the campaign, they should do even better in 2026.
And let's not forget that this was also a very good test for our young players, who will have learned from this experience and the adversity of recent weeks.
