There was a lot of action in the NHL last night.

The Canadiens weren't playing… but hey. Remember that Martin St-Louis' men will face the Panthers tonight in Florida.

Anyway… Let's take a look at what happened elsewhere in the league on Monday night:

1: The Sabres are… unstoppable?

I never thought I'd say this in my life. But… the Sabres scare me.

The club was in St. Louis last night to take on the Blues. The Blues had a 2-1 lead in the second period… and that's when Alex Tuch stepped up to tie it.

The third period was all Sabres. Zach Benson scored to make it 3-2… and Peyton Krebs scored into an empty net to give the Sabres a 4-2 win.

The Sabres have now won nine straight games. No, it's not a joke… and yes, you read that right.

Nine wins in a row for the Sabres, sounds like a funny thing to say. No?

2: Macklin Celebrini is too good

Macklin Celebrini is in his second NHL season. No big deal!

The kid is dominating the league and it's a sight to behold. He STILL collected three points last night, two of which can be seen in the following video:

The Sharks took advantage of the brilliance of their young star player to win 5-4 over the Ducks.

Celebrini is producing at an insane rate: he could reach the 100-point plateau in just 65 games this season if he can keep up the pace.

When we say this kid is special… we're not exaggerating:

3: Another goal for MacKinnon

Nathan MacKinnon has been scoring goals at an impressive rate since the start of the season. He scored another yesterday… after adding an assist on his team's second goal.

The sequence in which he added the assist on Necas' goal is worth watching, by the way:

MacKinnon is on a 70-goal pace this season. Will anyone be able to stop him at some point?

Note that in the Avalanche's 5-2 win over the Kings, Cale Makar also stood out late in the game. The defenseman scored his 12th goal of the campaign… and like his teammate, he too is having quite a season:

4: Soon 600 goals for Stammer

Steven Stamkos is a fearsome scorer. No doubt about it… even if he's no longer young.

But then again, we know he's still capable of putting it in. The proof?

The former Lightning captain scored his 598th and 599th career NHL goals last night. And he helped the Preds beat the Mammoth 4-3:

Stamkos now has eleven goals since the beginning of December.

That's pretty impressive. He's found his rhythm and he's really on a roll right now.

I tend to think that nobody hates his performance lately in Nashville… Hehe.

5: 13 straight games with at least one point for Connor McDavid

Connor McDavid is the most talented player in the world. I won't argue with anyone on that level.

And when he decides to open the machine, the Oilers captain is (really) hard to stop. He picked up another point last night in his club's 3-1 win over the Jets: that's at least one point in his last 13 games, which is excellent.

Oh, and he has… 33 points in that stretch. Ayoye!

McDavid had a more ordinary start to the season, but he's really on fire lately.

It's nice to see, in a way. Because the way he dominates games is really special…
