Many were eager to see Carter Hart back in action.

In October, he signed a pact with the Vegas Golden Knights, but could not return to NHL action until December 1. In his first game on the Bettman circuit since January 2024, he won in a shootout.

But since then, it's been tougher. He's lost four of his last five starts, and last night he was pulled after allowing five goals on 12 shots.

In nine games this season, the goaltender has a 3.18 goals-against average and a .883 SV%.

We'll give him the benefit of the doubt: he may be a little rusty. During the Team Canada junior scandal, he was practicing but not playing.

The sample size is still small, and it's not yet time to cry disappointment. On the other hand, you have to wonder if Vegas missed out on signing the Canadiens, and if the scandal of recent years is still fresh in his mind.

Playing in the Vegas market can't help either: the club has big aspirations and Hart needs to perform. So far, he's not performing.

Let's just say his performance last night against the Wild is making a lot of people happy.

The Knights have the easiest schedule between now and the end of the season. This is certainly good news for Hart, who will be hoping to bounce back.

The 27-year-old has signed a two-year deal worth $4 million. If he continues to do badly, the Nevada club is not handcuffed for the long term.
