Yesterday, the Habs escaped in a shootout with the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Four other games were on the schedule.

1. Mathew Barzal ejected after protecting Matthew Schaefer
Here's a rather special sequence.
Matthew Schaefer was hit hard by Mason Marchment, and Mathew Barzal defended him with a very dangerous stick. This earned him an expulsion.
Marchment clips Schaefer up ice and then Barzal gives him the tomahawk chop as a rebuttal. Off the rails. Lots of 2 hands going around this weekend. https://t.co/BgUG8XHrUS

I'm not excusing Barzal's gesture, but he sent a message to the rest of the NHL that the Islanders' young star is not to be messed with.
Still, Marchment had the last laugh, as he and his team won 4-2.

Denton Mateychuk and Sean Monahan also contributed to the win with two assists.
2. Cam Talbot lashes out at Bobby McMann
In Detroit, tempers also flared.
After Cam Talbot made a save, Bobby McMann pushed him. The goalie didn't like it and retaliated.

Late in the second period, with Toronto leading 1-0, Mortiz Seider tied the game.

Simon Edvinsson had a strong game.
First, he showed his ability to block shots.

3. Justin Brazeau hat trick
In Chicago, the Penguins made short work of the Blackhawks.
It was Justin Brazeau's night, as he scored his first career hat trick in a 7-3 victory.

The game was so one-sided that Spencer Knight was pulled from the game after just 12:03.
Not the best exit for him…
