On July 1, Christian Dvorak officially left the Canadiens.

He signed a one-year contract for $5.4 million. Clearly, Kent Hughes wasn't going to offer him such a deal.

But Dvorak loves Philadelphia and the love is clearly mutual. The two sides are reportedly talking about a second contract, according to David Pagnotta (The Fourth Period).

In 36 games this season, the 29-year-old center has collected 24 points. He's on track for the best offensive season of his career.

Daniel Brière and the player's camp are talking about a multi-year contract extension, possibly in the three-year range. As for the salary, it's expected to stay in the $5.5 million range.

With the salary cap rising, however, a pact that would pay him $6 million per season is also possible.

The Flyers are doing relatively well this season, and this success is partly thanks to the former Habs star. He's the team's third-highest scorer and hardly ever plays on the power play. He's good on face-offs and excels defensively.

A nice surprise for Daniel Brière, in any case.

As for Dvo, he gambled on himself by signing a humble one-year contract this summer, and so far, that confidence is paying off.

Overtime

– This has clearly given the Falcons wings.

– It's clear.

– He shows the extent of his talent.
