Juraj Slafkovský is having a very interesting season. The Slovak, in his fourth year in the NHL, has 11 goals and 25 points in 37 games so far this campaign… but above all, he looks more confident than ever.

It shows when you watch him play: he controls the puck and makes his presence felt.

It's even more obvious now that he's been sent to the second line, where he's more of a leader. And what's interesting is that, since then, we've seen Slaf as a guy with the skills to play center.

Marc Antoine Godin also had this observation… and what's interesting is that, according to what he reported on the Tellement hockey podcast, Slafkovský wouldn't really be closed to trying it out:

He's very open to it. He'd be tempted. – Marc Antoine Godin

Godin points out that Slafkovský hasn't played center for years, while the Slovak claims he hasn't played there since he was nine years old. That said, we know that he's been practicing in the face-off circle with Marc Bureau for quite some time now… and it makes you wonder if we could see him playing center eventually.

Eric Engels floated the idea recently, too. It's not the first time this story has caused a stir.

That said, we also know that in Montreal, we've often seen the Habs try to convert wingers into center players… and it's rarely been a resounding success. Alex Galchenyuk and Jonathan Drouin, among others, were the organization's experiments that didn't work.

But then again, we're talking about experiments that took place under the previous management. Let's see if the current administration wants to give it a try.

Overtime

– Sweden wins first CMJ match. Ivar Stenberg scored the winning goal.

– We'll be keeping a close eye on them.

– Good words for Jacob Fowler.
