When a veteran is traded to the NHL, there's a good chance he'll have to uproot his family.

This is indeed what happened to Phillip Danault, who had been living in California since 2021. His return to Montreal means that his wife and their two children will also be living here for the foreseeable future.

That's quite a change.

Obviously, because Phillip and his wife Marie-Pierre are Québécois, and because the center has spent many years in Montreal, it makes the transition easier.

But it's still a major adjustment.

On this subject, Marie-Pierre Danault gave an interview to Louis Jean(98.5 Sports) to talk about the changing dynamics in the family following the transaction.

And it quickly becomes clear that the change of scenery is welcome.

Seeing her children grow up in Quebec, in the snow, is something that appeals to the mother of the family. And the couple's young son is happy about it too.

Even if the Montreal market is a demanding one, coming back to it makes the couple happy, and they know how to manage it all. And there are still a few familiar faces in the club, including Nick Suzuki and his wife.

Phillip Danault promised his wife a nice Christmas… and it happened.

Of course, Danault hasn't had a home game yet, and it's the holidays. The “normal” side of life (including school and daycare) hasn't kicked in yet.

But even so, the excitement of a new beginning seems to be doing the family a world of good. You can tell by listening to Phillip and Marie-Pierre talk about their return to Montreal.

And I'm sure that on the ice, with the big defensive minutes Danault can eat up, there must be a lot of satisfied customers in the locker room.
