Then… how do you like Jacob Fowler?
So far, it's hard to blame him for much. The goaltender was brilliant in net again last night against the Bruins(especially in the first period), and he helped the Canadiens come out of it with the W.
Without him, the Habs probably wouldn't have won that game.
When Fowler was recalled from Laval, Brendan Gallagher issued a warning to fans… reminding them that Carey Price had been a handful early in his career and that they shouldn't be too critical of Fowler's early performances.
But… you know what?
Fowler and Price have almost identical stats in their first five NHL games. It's amazing how similar they actually are:

We all knew Fowler's potential was interesting.
And while the sample size is slim, having played just five NHL games to date, it's easy to see why he's been talked about so highly since his selection in the 2023 draft.
The kid is already one of the big league's elite, after all. And that's impressive.
Among ALL goalkeepers having played a minimum of 5 games
Jacob Fowler:
-1st for expected goals saved per 60 minutes.
-2nd for save percentage on high-percentage shots with .923 (that's huge).
MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Jacob Fowler's current successes can't guarantee him a career on par with Carey Price's in the NHL.
But it does mean he's off to a great start in the best hockey league on the planet. He's showing that he has the talent to be one of the best goalkeepers on the circuit in the near future, and even then, it's interesting because we knew how good he was.
But I have the impression that we didn't necessarily expect him to be so good right from the start of his NHL career – and even in the pros in general.
He's sending a huge message to the organization…

– Good point.
The #habs aren't perfect… but not far off! What a stunning fall semester. What's next promises to be fascinating!
Planting the Boston is always liberating… two days before Christmas even more so.
