Top 5: When Connor McDavid decides to do it all himself

The Canadiens lost a shootout to the Penguins last night.

What a shame!

There was action elsewhere in the NHL, too. Let's see what happened:

1: When McDavid decides to do it all himself!

Connor McDavid can do anything on the ice. We've already seen him score some beautiful goals since his NHL debut, after all.

And yesterday, the Oilers captain reminded everyone that he's the most talented player on the planet.

You can't make this stuff up:

McDavid is really on fire right now. He's racked up 26 points in his last 10 games (you read that right)… and he's installed this morning as the NHL's top scorer, ahead of Nathan MacKinnon.

No worse.

The Oilers won 4-3 against the Golden Knights and can thank McJesus, who finished the game with three points.

2: Leafs…

Hey boy.

Hey boyyyyyy.

Yesterday, the Leafs got washed out. Blown up. Humiliated.

Use whatever term you want, really. Stars win 5-1…

After the game, William Nylander said he couldn't remember a tougher time on the ice since the start of his career. Things are really bad in Toronto right now.

And when the club's top scorer says it openly, it's because there are reasons for it…

3: Crushing Avalanche victory in Minnesota

For the first time since the acquisition of Quinn Hughes, the Wild lost.

And quite frankly, apart from that.

The Avalanche, who were visiting Minnesota, weren't there for nonsense: Colorado won the game by a score of 5-1 (!) and… guess what?

Nathan MacKinnon was at it again. The Avalanche forward scored two goals (including one in an empty net) to help his club win:

The Dogg is on course for a 70-goal season if he can keep up his current pace. 70 goals is… a lot.

I wonder if he'll be able to keep up…

4: Fabian Zetterlund takes care of the Bruins

Fabian Zetterlund isn't the best-known name in the NHL. But he's still a very, very good support player in Ottawa.

The Swiss scored twice and added an assist last night to help the Sens beat the Bruins 6-2. A big game for the right-hander:

Drake Batherson and Dylan Cozens also finished with three points.

Things are going well for the Sens lately, having won their last four games. It really looks like we're figuring things out in Ottawa…

5: A big score for the Kid

We had to mention it… right?

Last night, Sidney Crosby surpassed Mario Lemieux at the top of the Pittsburgh Penguins scoring charts. He scored early in the game and wasted no time in collecting his second point of the game, which enabled him to overtake Lemieux:

Obviously, this is a truly great feat.

Sidney Crosby is a winner, a leader… and to see him overtake Mario Lemieux, it's comforting in a way.

Well-deserved, at least. Because there aren't many professional athletes who have the attitude and desire to win like Sidney Crosby.
